We are open for regular business hours, but strict protocol is required for entry into the studio. MASKS COVERING BOTH MOUTH AND NOSE WILL BE REQUIRED FOR ENTRY, for shopping or to attend classes. If you are unable to wear the mask over BOTH nose and mouth during class, please wait to register until mask restrictions are lifted. There is a sanitizer station in the entry and three sinks available to wash hands. Class size is reduced to comply with social distancing measures. Below are descriptions of workshops that are on the calendar as well as classes available for private parties. Click on the picture for a link to our secure online registration and to pay by credit card. If you'd like to save on credit card processing fees, just stop by the studio with cash or check to register. We also accept Venmo, but call to make sure there is room in class before you transfer payment.
Please note that we are limiting classes scheduled to create more room on the calendar for private parties so that you feel safer with people you know and trust. Katie and Donna have minimums as low as 3 people for all of their available classes and our visiting instructors minimums range from 3-5. Mosaic Workshops with studio owner Katie Packham
Mosaic Open StudioThis studio time is for students who have had the Mosaic 101 class and are familiar with the studio. Many projects to choose from or bring your own and use our supplies. Contact Katie to save your spot and to discuss project options.
When: Saturday Oct 17th or make an appointment during normal business hours
Mosaic 101This workshop is offered at least once monthly and has the most in-depth lecture w/six page handout. If you anticipate wanting to continue mosaics on your own, this is the class you want to take. Students learn basics on design, terminology, tools, assembly and grouting. Students have the option of a larger project- 6x12 plaque or 10x10 framed mirror $70, or 6x8 or 4x12 plaque $55.

Creative WellnessFull day retreat with Katie Packham and Lynell Garfield. We begin the day with Lynell in the yoga room- light stretching, guided meditative journey to help clear energy. We move to the gallery room to discuss natural remedies and make two essential oil roller balls to take home. After lunch, we move into the mosaic studio to create mosaic mandalas with Katie.

Home Means NevadaCreate our signature "Home Means Nevada" mosaic plaque. The substrate is a handcut piece of MDF in the shape of Nevada approximately 4 x 8". There is no lecture for this particular workshop, just a quick lesson on tools, materials and adhesives. We will just jump right in and make the mosaic! Our handmade ceramic tile words "home means nevada" are included! Grouting demo provided. Students take grout home to finish.

Mosaic PendantsThis workshop challenges you to work on a very small scale. A brief lecture on design and assembly is given in this two hour workshop and students create two pendants using a wide array of beads and tessera to fill pendant trays. A grouting demo is given and students complete the project at home. Additional pendants can be made for $20ea.

Mosaic Coaster & Trivet SetThis is a fun intro to mosaics class, a great project class to see if you want to continue on to the Mosaic 101. In this class, we give a brief lecture on tools, design & assembly and jump right in. Students create Two Coasters for $45, add on the Trivet for $20. 2-3hrs.

Mosaic Shapes StudioExperience is preferred as there is no lecture, but if you are a beginner, we do a quick talk on materials, design and grout and jump right in! Many projects available including MDF shapes and garden stones. Projects starting at $35. Contact studio to see what shapes are available for your private party of 2+.
Advanced Mosaic Garden ArtAlthough we offer the full Mosaic 101 lecture with this class, we suggest you try a 101 or smaller project before jumping in to our Garden Ball or Dish class. Depending on the size of the project, this can take up to 25+ hours to complete. Upcycled Bowling Balls are $125, Dishes start at $125. WHEN: Students can request this as a private class and complete on their own time frame in the studio during normal business hours.

Mosaic Garden StonesIn this "project" class, we offer a brief lecture on tools and assembly and jump right in. A fun intro into outdoor mosaics, but we don't get too deep into design and technique. Grouting demo is given and students take projects home to complete. Three sizes available Brick $35, Square $45, Paver $55

Workshops with Resident Artist Donna Smit
Glass Fusion OrnamentsCreate holiday fused glass ornaments and get a bonus star to wire wrap! Each student will create up to five ornaments, 3" in height, ranging from traditional snowman, gnomes, Santa, Christmas tree and more. Students can personalize with glassline paints, frit and millefiorri.

Glass Fusion Nevada OrnamentsThis ornament class focuses on the shape of Nevada. This workshop will demonstrate the use of glassline paints and students will be able to personalize their ornaments, along with the use of frit, stringers, millifiore and dichroic glass.
WHEN: Nov 1, 10am-1pm
Two Day Multi Media ClassThis two part workshop will allow students to experience the beauty of creating a dirty pour (mixing more than one paint color in the same container before adding to a wood substrate) and then weeks later, add glass, beads, shells, plastic(unlimited possibilities) and coating with resin. Students can choose between Nevada or Tahoe substrate.
WHEN: Day one: Sunday November 8th
Glass Fusion Suncatchers Under the SeaStudents will create a fish, mermaid, or turtle with patterns designed by Donna. Each student will learn glass cutting basics. Donna will guide students through the use of copper inclusions, demonstrate using enamels layering colors, and students creating their own clear frit to create scales. Students will make one suncatcher or garden stake. Pieces will be ready for pickup after firing a few days later.

Mixed Media StudioStudents choose from a variety of wall art, stunning ornaments and whimsical magnets in this "studio" class. Learn how to use alcohol inks on metal substrate, simple glass cutting, wire wrapping and beading. Different from our resin classes, we will be using diamond glaze, which means projects can be taken home the day of class! Students create 1 larger piece or 4 small for base fee $65.

Glass Fusion Yard Art- Dog or CatDonna guides students in creating a whimsical cat lady or Dog yard art. Previous glass cutting experienced preferred. Each student will learn glass cutting, copper inclusions, and will add a pair of eyeglass frames after pieces are fired.The student will also learn about the types of glass, how to layer transparent and opaque and the use of stringers and frit. Each cat or dog comes with a yard stake.

Resin Canvas ArtOur glass fusion artist Donna has another passion- Resin! This class allows students freedom to create just about anything. Each student will paint a canvas with acrylic paint, adding glass such as wine and beer bottle shards, jewelry, wire, beads, tiles, capping with resin. You will create beautiful one-of-a-kind art that is dimensional.

Glass Fusion JewelryIn this popular 2 hour workshop, Donna guides students through the basics of glass fusing, proper use of tools, design and assembly. Students will create one pendant and set of earrings. There is an option to create brooches or multiple earrings instead of the set.

Glass Fusion SuncatchersResident artist Donna Smit teaches this glass fusion basic class to enhance your cutting skills, techniques, proper use of tools, and a demonstration to create shapes with glass using glue and powdered frit and incorporating metal inclusions. These skills will help the student with future upcoming classes. Each student will create a suncatcher in this class.

Workshops with Visiting Artisans
The following are workshops with visiting Artisans. As we begin to navigate classes during the time of COVID, we are finding that although we are limiting class sizes and we have a strict safety protocol. people still are hesitant to be in groups of people they don't know. You will see the following on the calendar occasionally, but we are encouraging these classes on a private gathering basis. Each instructor has their minimum and depending on the class, we can accommodate 6-7 students. If you cannot meet the minimum but have interest in a class, please let us know and we can see about getting another couple people to join you.
Xanadu Water MarblingWe are excited to host Xanadu for a fun day of marbling silk scarves. Each artist applies acrylic paint to the special water bath, floating the colors in a custom-built water marbling tray, then uses marbling combs, rakes, or stylus to create the design of their liking. Each student goes home with a six foot, 100% Silk Scarf. Time permitting students can make additional scarves for $30ea.

Silk Painting ScarvesJoin Louise Noel for a journey into the brilliant realm of silk painting. We will paint a long 54x8 scarf using the Sert (closed fence) method of silk painting. An assortment of patterns is available. This session, we will use resists, dive into vibrant color, play with surface treatments, use alcohol & salt to create texture and movement. Steam setting will be provided for your finished scarves so that you can wear or display your art.

Tree of Life Wire SculptureGuest Artist Sally King guides you through the relaxing process of making your own beaded wire tree of life. The art you create can be displayed as a sun catcher or wall hanging. Sally will walk you through basic wire wrapping techniques, proper use of tools and incorporating beads to personalize your tree. Finished Tree is 7" diameter. Additional kits available to take home $8 each.

Intro to ResinsIn this beginners class, Instructor Kelly Burr will lecture on the basics of resins and answer all your questions about the very popular resin art craze! Lecture will cover safety, materials and colorants and afterward, students will make a simple yet exciting resin art piece to display in their home.

Boho & BlingGuest Instructor Vivienne French.
Embroidery that is big, beautiful, bold and trending (again!). Reinterpret folk and bohemian stitchery to modern use. Learn where to find inspiration, pattern ideas, basic embroidery, how to attach beads and sequins and create a hooped project. Basic knowledge of hand sewing helpful but not essential. Kit set will be provided.

Pine Needle BasketsJoin Susan Lester for a pine needle weaving project suitable for beginners or those who have woven with pine needles before. We live near an endless supply of weaving material. Take a walk anywhere near Tahoe and come home with your next projects materials. We will discuss preparation of the needles and weave a small tray. This project uses a ceramic base and waxed linen thread.

Intro to Ink Dyes- CoastersGuest Instructor Tina Mokuau teaches this Intro to Alcohol Inks, great for beginners, but also fun for those with experience. Learn the basics of this very popular art medium using different substrates to warm up, then you will design your own (set of four) ceramic tile coasters to take home! Demonstrations and information will be offered on embellishing the tops with paint pens as well as different methods and products to coat the tops once dried.

Intro to Hand EmbroideryGuest Instructor Vivienne French teaches this time honored art form that has a recent resurgence in popularity. Learn about iron on pattern transfers, start to become proficient in basic stitches, such as stem stitch, backstitch, French knots,and satin stitch. Each student receives a kit set with all supplies needed to begin embroidering a dish towel.

Pine Needle Basket PendantsGuest Instructor Susan Lester will guide students in making a small pine needle piece, 2.5 -4", that can be modified to be used as either a pendant, broach or hair barrette. We will weave around a cabochon with pine needles using waxed linen. The addition of small beads will enhance your piece.
