Below are descriptions of workshops that are on the calendar as well as classes available for private parties. Click on the picture for a link to our secure online registration and to pay by credit card. If you'd like to save on credit card processing fees, just stop by the studio with cash or check to register. We also accept Venmo, but call to make sure there is room in class before you transfer payment.
In addition to classes listed, we are encouraging private parties so that you feel safer with people you know and trust. Katie and Donna have minimums as low as 3 people for all of their available classes and our visiting instructors minimums range from 3-5. Mosaic Workshops with studio owner Katie Packham
This studio time is for students who have had the Mosaic 101 class and are familiar with the studio. Many projects to choose from or bring your own and use our supplies. Contact Katie to save your spot and to discuss project options. When: Wednesdays May 5th, 12th & 19th 12-4pm. Saturday May 8th 11am-3pm Or call to make an appointment during normal business hours
This workshop is offered at least twice monthly and has the most in-depth lecture w/six page handout. If you anticipate wanting to continue mosaics on your own, this is the class you want to take. Students learn basics on design, terminology, tools, assembly and grouting. Students have the option of a larger project- 6x12 plaque or 10x10 framed mirror $75, or 6x8 or 4x12 plaque $65. This workshop challenges you to work on a very small scale. A brief lecture on design and assembly is given in this two hour workshop and students create two pendants using a wide array of beads and tessera to fill pendant trays. A grouting demo is given and students complete the project at home. Additional pendants can be made for $20ea. WHEN: May class TBA COST: $65 Available for private parties
In this "project" class, we offer a brief lecture on tools and assembly and jump right in. A fun intro into outdoor mosaics, but we don't get too deep into design and technique. This is a fun intro to mosaics class, a great project class to see if you want to continue on to the Mosaic 101. In this class, we give a brief lecture on tools, design & assembly and jump right in. Students create Two Coasters for $45, add on the Trivet for $20. 2-3hrs. Available for private parties of 2+ during normal business hours, 3+ after hours
Create our signature "Home Means Nevada" mosaic plaque. The substrate is a handcut piece of MDF in the shape of Nevada approximately 4 x 8". There is no lecture for this particular workshop, just a quick lesson on tools, materials and adhesives. We will just jump right in and make the mosaic! Our handmade ceramic tile words "home means nevada" are included! Grouting demo provided. Students take grout home to finish. Available for private parties of 2+ COST: $45
Although we offer the full Mosaic 101 lecture with this class, we suggest you try a 101 or smaller project before jumping in to our Garden Ball or Dish class. Depending on the size of the project, this can take up to 25+ hours to complete. Upcycled Bowling Balls are $125, Dishes start at $125. WHEN: Students can request this as a private class and complete on their own time frame in the studio during normal business hours. WHEN: Call to schedule time to work on this project during regular hours.
Experience is preferred as there is no lecture, but if you are a beginner, we do a quick talk on materials, design and grout and jump right in! Many projects available including MDF shapes and garden stones. Projects starting at $35. Contact studio to see what shapes are available for your private party of 2+.

Workshops with Resident Artist Donna Smit
A great beginner class layering and utilizing nippers. Students will nip and use pieces of colored glass, ranging in all the colors of the rainbow. Once fired, students will take home and string wire and beads to create these stunning mosaic style healing hearts, 7" x 9" COST: $70 WHEN: Motheris Day Available for private parties of 3-6
Donna guides students in this multi-step process, first painting a canvas with acrylic paint, adding glass such as colorful bottle shards, jewelry, beads, tiles, and more, capping the entire project with resin. Students create beautiful one-of-a-kind art that is dimensional. All supplies are included, but feel free to bring in baubles or trinkets to add in. WHEN: Sunday May 16th, 10am-1pm COST: 12” x 12” canvas $85 or 8” x 10” canvas $75
Each student creates three small whimsical pieces with yard stakes. These beauties can be placed in indoors or out. Donna will teach several different techniques that incorporate copper inclusions and beads can be added after kiln firing. All materials, tools, and garden stakes are also included. Previous glass cutting experience is preferred. COST: $70 WHEN:Sunday June 6th, 10am-1pm Class is available for private parties of 3+
Students will create a fish- trout, salmon or colorful tropical fish. Previous glass cutting experienced preferred. Donna teaches students the use of copper inclusions, enamels, and creating your own clear frit to create scales. The student will also learn about the layering glass- transparent and opaque and the use of stringers and frit. Each fish comes with a yard stake. WHEN: June 13th, 1-4pm COST: $75
Students choose from a variety of wall art, stunning ornaments and whimsical magnets in this "studio" class. Learn how to use alcohol inks on metal substrate, simple glass cutting, wire wrapping and beading. Different from our resin classes, we will be using diamond glaze, which means projects can be taken home the day of class! Students create 1 larger piece or 4 small for base fee $65. WHEN: June 29th Tuesday 2-5pm
Resident artist Donna Smit teaches this glass fusion basic class to enhance your cutting skills, techniques, proper use of tools, and a demonstration to create shapes with glass using glue and powdered frit and incorporating metal inclusions. These skills will help the student with future upcoming classes. Each student will create a suncatcher in this class. WHEN: Available for private parties of 3-7 COST: $65
Students will create a fish, mermaid, or turtle with patterns designed by Donna. Each student will learn glass cutting basics. Donna will guide students through the use of copper inclusions, demonstrate using enamels layering colors, and students creating their own clear frit to create scales. Students will make one suncatcher or garden stake. Pieces will be ready for pickup after firing a few days later. Available for private groups of 3-6 COST: $85
Donna guides students in creating a whimsical cat lady or Dog yard art. Previous glass cutting experienced preferred. Each student will learn glass cutting, copper inclusions, and will add a pair of eyeglass frames after pieces are fired.The student will also learn about the types of glass, how to layer transparent and opaque and the use of stringers and frit. Each cat or dog comes with a yard stake. WHEN: Available for Private Parties of 3-6 COST: $70
In this popular 2 hour workshop, Donna guides students through the basics of glass fusing, proper use of tools, design and assembly. Students will create one pendant and set of earrings. Workshops with Visiting Artisans
The following are workshops with visiting Artisans. As we begin to navigate classes during the time of COVID, we are finding that although we are limiting class sizes and we have a strict safety protocol. people still are hesitant to be in groups of people they don't know. You will see the following on the calendar occasionally, but we are encouraging these classes on a private gathering basis. Each instructor has their minimum and depending on the class, we can accommodate 6-7 students. If you cannot meet the minimum but have interest in a class, please let us know and we can see about getting another couple people to join you.
Learn the basic techniques of dimensional bead embroidery by making a beaded cabochon pendant with guest instructor Suzanne English. in this 3-4 hour class, uzanne will show students how to create a bezel surrounding the cabochon with a peyote stitch, various edging techniques and adding optional fringe. WHEN: Tuesday May 18th, 2-6pm COST: $100
This workshop, taught by visiting artist Kelly Burr is a great inroduction to the use of resins. Students make six Nevada shapes which are precut and ready to resin, paint and embellish to make coasters, wall art or Christmas ornaments. Short lecture will be provided on the basics and safety of using resins. Pieces need to be left overnight to dry. WHEN: May 20th, 12-2pm COST: $75
Guest Instructor Susan Lester. Students will learn about what goes into the preparation of a gourd to make it ready for the many methods of art that can be applied to this versatile vessel. The gourds used in class will be cleaned and ready to dye and apply a pine needle rim to. WHEN: Saturday May 22nd, 12-4pm COST: $80
Guest instructor Tina Mokuau teaches this new class incorporating various techniques. Tina shows students all of the basics of using alcoholink to create colorful papers to collage with. After painting a 9x12 wood substrate, we will cut and glue our collage using the alcoholink papers along with various other papers, and other fun ephemera provided. WHEN: May 25th 3-5:30 COST: $65
Join guest instructor Lisa Huffman as she guides students in the basics of wire-wrapping. Students will wrap and embellish sea glass to create two pendants for class price of $45. All materials are included. Additional pendants can be made if time permits for $10 each, payable directly to the instructor. WHEN: June offering TBA
Join Louise Noel for a journey into the brilliant realm of silk painting. We will paint a long 54x8 scarf using the Sert (closed fence) method of silk painting. An assortment of patterns is available. This session, we will use resists, dive into vibrant color, play with surface treatments, use alcohol & salt to create texture and movement. Steam setting will be provided for your finished scarves so that you can wear or display your art. WHEN: Summer Classes TBA COST: $155
Guest Artist Sally King guides you through the relaxing process of making your own beaded wire tree of life. The art you create can be displayed as a sun catcher or wall hanging. Sally will walk you through basic wire wrapping techniques, proper use of tools and incorporating beads to personalize your tree. Finished Tree is 7" diameter. In this beginners class, Instructor Kelly Burr will lecture on the basics of resins and answer all your questions about the very popular resin art craze! Lecture will cover safety, materials and colorants and afterward, students will make a simple yet exciting resin art piece to display in their home. WHEN: Available for private groups of 4-6 COST: $75
Guest Instructor Kelly Burr introduces students to the art of resin in this fun holiday class! Make a custom set of Nevada or Tahoe shaped Christmas ornaments. Your choice of colors, and we will have LOTS of embellishments to add such as crushed auto glass, stones, mica flakes or you can bring something special from home to add a personal touch to your creations. Students make 5 Nevada or Tahoe Ornaments. WHEN: Available for private parties COST: $75
