Gouache Painting

Even if youve taken this class before, guest instructor Donna Koepp explores new techniques and themes each time. This time, our final piece will be a landscape!

Why Gouache (gwash)?

If you’ve tried watercolor and love it, but wish it could be just a bit more opaque and allow for more layers? Let’s try gouache.

·  Like watercolor, it can be used as a watery wash

·  Unlike watercolor, it can also be used from the tube and acts like thick acrylic

·  And mixing gouache to it’s magic creamy consistency, it becomes its own versatile media

We’ll explore all of these consistencies and experiment with how each works best.

This class is meant as an introductory to gouache. No painting experience is required and only minimal drawing is used. Students will leave with small paintings and a mat board ready for framing.

All materials are included. Just bring your curiosity and playful spirit. Ages 14+
